It's a game, about a guy making a game, who is in a game, but is also making a game, and his marketing campaign is like a game, and that's about a game, in a game, but also outside the game, where he is making a game, about him making a game, which is about the game industry, and you play other games. In the game.

"bob's game" is a work of satire about gaming and the game industry, where the main character "Yuu" plays games inside the game to find "the greatest game ever made" - the legendary "bob's game." This virtual "bob's game" inside of "bob's game" is created by the in-game end boss character "bob," the author's alter-ego.
"bob" is a villainous, egomaniacal genius developer who believes he has uncovered a vast conspiracy in the game industry to hold back great games. Believing himself on a quest to save the game industry, "bob" holds an interdimensional "bob's game" tournament- in order to gather every brainwashed gamer worldwide together at once and break the evil spell of shovelware. If "Yuu" wants the industry to survive- "Yuu" must beat "bob" at his own game... and "Yuu" might just reveal the real truth.
There is ongoing speculation of how the full plot of "bob's game" will end up. It has been suggested that the viral advertisement will be somehow included in the game, yet others say the viral advertisement is a twisted version of the plot already made for the game.
bobsgame.com was an "alternate reality game-" a viral advertisement starring "bob" which created a real-life parallel to the events inside "bob's game."
there is no villain. it's not real!!

The protest ended on the 30th day on January 10, 2009, with Pelloni saying that he was suffering from a "wicked headache". He blasted Nintendo, ranting that they are "a "heartless corporation, only interested in the biggest profits". He also ransacked his room as a result of his frustration. He posted a lengthy comment on his website, declaring his defeat. In light of the protest and lack of any movement from the webcam and after a post left to Pelloni on his website which suggested suicide, a concerned user from the /v/ board on 4chan was able to retrieve Pelloni's telephone number from his WHOIS information. The user contacted his sister in an attempt to get somebody to check on him. Then, on January 11, the police broke into his room to check on him, finding him okay.
bob's game - a game by one person
This is my game for Nintendo DS, a 20-hour-long retail-size,
retail-quality adventure title by a single human being.
"bob's game" is a simple 2D adventure game with focus on story, puzzles, items, and communication.
Many characters have deep personalities that evolve, and many events depend on the in-game time and day.
Bob's Game Forum (BGF) also known as "bob's cult" holds the position as the most powerful and influential community/cult surrounding "bob's game". BGF is known for their overzealous reactions to "bob" logging on to the forums for a second or two (and twenty seconds later about 50 new topics about the incident have appeared). Many new memes/fads have started in the BGF as a result of messages conveyed from "bob" in the viral ad or somewhere else entirety (ex: SOON, AWHILE, REGGIE!).
