Being that today is the one year anniversary for my idea of the Bob's Game Forum, I decided to make a little something:
Well, one year ago today I had the idea to make a little something called the Bob's Game Forum.
Although it didn't go public until March 12th, the forumotion account and address had been there (note my registration date on the old forum was January 22nd).
March 12th is what I would consider the real birthday of BGF, but this day is important enough to get an update of its own.
Originally, I just suggested Bob make a forum and offered to help with it, but eventually I got tired of waiting for an answer and went ahead with it myself.
I started advertising it in YouTube comments, some people joined, then Bob liked the idea and... you know the rest.
So lets take a look at that one year old email, addressed to one bob@bobsgame.com with the subject "Bob's Game Forum?":
gBev Wrote:Hey Bob,
I've been checking out your website for a while now, and I'm looking forward to playing the game in whatever form it comes out in (still hoping for the DS). But, I think that a really good way for you to gather a stronger fanbase would be to create a forum, that way people can start discussions about the game and you can answer people's questions. You could even use a free forum site like forumotion.net if you didn't want to add one to your site. If you do decide to make one, I'll be happy to help you moderate it.
Good luck,
gBev
As I said before, there was no answer, and the comments were sort of a last ditch effort. But hey, it turned out alright.
reggienintendous@aol.com Wrote:Hello Robert Pelloni,
I'm sure you already know of me, but my name is Reginald Fils-Aimé, or Reggie for short. One of my aides has shown me the game you have been working on for the last five years and I have to say, I am thoroughly impressed! I asked around the office about Bob's Game, and I have been told that you have inquired about the Nintendo DS Source Development Kit in the past. As much as I would like to give it out to every aspiring developer, this simply cannot happen due to the fact that it could be reversed-engineered and used to pirate our DS titles. There is, however, another way to get Bob's Game onto shelves across the United States. If you were to send me all of the files related to Bob's Game, I could then convince the board to release Bob's Game under Nintendo of America! Assuming the final product is like the two demos, this should not be a problem.
This is your big break, kid!
Simply send the files to me as a zipped attachment and I will do the rest. Once the board approves of it, I will contact you again to finalize the details. I look forward to hearing from you!

--President, Nintendo of America

Ohh, how exciting! Reggie does behind the scene indie business with an AOL email!
As this obvious troll was expecting files in return, the email was a real one and so I decided to answer.
gBev Wrote:Hello Troll,
First off, this isn't even Bob's email. I'm gBev, and I run the forum. Second, Bob has already gotten denied by Nintendo twice. I mean, really? Do you think he's an idiot? You use an AOL email address, and expect him to email the files back to you without a second thought as to why the President of Nintendo, who has no part in deciding which games are made, would bypass everyone and get the game through himself? Normally these kind of things are throwaway emails, but as you were expecting something in return I have this wonderful opportunity to answer you. I can see right through this as any other person could, you're expecting him to send you the files so you can release it yourself and get internet fame, and possibly even money for it. That's pretty lame if you ask me. Hopefully you can find yourself a better hobby than impersonating people with power.
If you haven't noticed, the forum looks dramatically different now. Much more like it used to before myBB. (see a comparison here)
There's a good chance it's just completely broken for some people, so if you think it is just hit ctrl+F5 and it should be fixed.
As always, use the quick theme changer on the bottom of the page to use any theme you want.

As you all can probably tell, I've been really relaxed with forum moderation lately. It's probably going to stay that way until the game is released, but realize that when that happens it'll be the way it was back in April and for that brief time at 090909. Just wanted to let you know we're not giving up, but I figured the ten or so people who actually still come here deserve a chance to relax.
This forum has made it ten months so far, and hopefully there won't be many more before the full game is released in some form.
MAY THE GLORIOUS BOB'S GAME REIGN FOREVER SUPREME AS THE GREATEST GAME IN THE UNIVERSE
